Apple Vision Pro For ALS
At my place of employment, I've been helping one our scientists with learning Accessibility options in macOS. He was diagnosed with ALS
and is losing a lot of fine motor control with his hands. His switch from a Windows PC to a Mac has been very positive. Now, I've decided it's time to explore Apple's latest platform as a possible option for him: Apple Vision Pro.
I've been teaching myself how to navigate my AVP without the use of my hands, mostly using "Dwell control", dictation, and Voice control to navigate the interface. I've also been playing around with some of the sound recognition settings so that a click of my tongue could also be used/interpreted as a mouse click. Just this afternoon, I was able to make this BlueSky post entirely within the AVP ecosystem without using my hands.
If you know anyone who's doing similar work: exploring the use of Apple Vision Pro for people with ALS or similar conditions, please reach out to me so we can compare notes.
